This species grows on grassy or brushy hillsides, grasslands, stream banks with willow and salt cedar, openings in chaparral, fallow fields, valley floors, sometimes weedy in orchards, along roadsides, and in disturbed areas with estafiate, in sandy and granitic soils (Castillon et al. 2023, FNA 2023).
