Taxonomic CommentsThis record represents the narrower concept of Senega verticillata following Pastore et al. (2023) which excludes Senega (Polygala) ambigua (=Polygala verticillata var. ambigua). Pastore et al. (2023) transfer Polygala verticillata to Senega verticillata (but do not publish combinations for any infrataxa in this species) and Polygala ambigua (=Polygala verticillata var. ambigua) to Senega ambigua. In contrast, Kartesz (1994) recognized Polygala verticillata in a broad sense with five varieties (var. ambigua, var. dolichoptera, var. isocycla, var. sphenostachya. var. verticillata).
